Create Lab’s “Design+Innovate+Code” Holiday Coding camps aim to enrich your children’s inherent innovative spirit by introducing them to powerful tools to imagine, create and invent!
Using concepts of Design Innovation together with advanced Scratch coding and unplugged learning, children are encouraged to observe the world around them from a perspective of problem solvers. This camp will inspire them to empathise, ideate and test solutions for challenges, and use technology as a solution. Developed together with Prof. Suranga Nanayakkara – the Head of the Augmented Human lab at SUTD, visiting faculty MIT Media Lab and TED Speaker – this camp enables children to strengthen their Computational Thinking capabilities and enhance their 21st Century competencies of critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration in an environment that is fun and engaging.
Prior Experience Required
*Basic beginner level skill in Scratch programming. Participants are encouraged to have completed Create Lab’s foundational “Confident Tech Creators” program.

Relating these concepts to Computational Thinking and program design
Deeper understanding of key computational concepts including abstraction, variables, loops, and conditionals using MIT’s Scratch programming language (scratch.mit.edu)
Introduction to operators, lists, coding arithmetic and designing customised Scratch programming blocks
- Developing hardware-software interfaces to tackle real world situations
Curriculum
Our programs are developed by world leading academics affiliated with the University of Oxford, Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD – a collaboration with MIT) and the Singapore Management University (SMU). We are different as our curriculums are designed to be broad and immersive where children learn not just to code, but also experience wider aspects of technology through design, interactive robots and unplugged computer science.
Instructors
Our instructors are highly trained in technology and early childhood education and have many years of teaching experience. Our team consists of university/polytechnic lecturers, IT professionals and PhD students.
Student Ratio
We guarantee an individually curated learning experience for each child with a low teacher-to-student ratio of 1-to-5 in our camps.
Disclaimer
Each camp will only proceed with a minimum sign-up of 3 students. Create Lab will communicate any cancellation in advance and full refunds will be made accordingly
